Vice President of Academics–Margaret Marrer

Margaret serves as the Vice President for Academics for Democracy Prep Public Schools, managing the curriculum and assessment program for all DPPS schools K-12. She deeply believes that ensuring our scholars have access to high quality curriculum every day is an incredibly important part of our mission. Prior to this role, Margaret served as an Assistant Superintendent at DPPS, coaching and supporting our school leaders.

After several years of teaching in the NYC DOE and at DPPS, Margaret was the founding Principal and Executive Director of Democracy Prep Endurance Charter School in New York City, where scholars have outperformed the district on each iteration of the New York State Mathematics and ELA exams—with double the levels of proficiency in ELA and nearly quadruple the level of proficiency of the district in mathematics.

Margaret holds a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University, a Master of Science of Teaching in Secondary Mathematics from Pace University, and a Master of Education in School Leadership from Teachers College at Columbia University. She has completed the Cambiar Catalyst Fellowship.”
