Chief Schools Officer – Duncan Scherer

Duncan Scherer began his work in education and youth development 20 years ago as a residential counselor for abused and neglected youth and as a substitute teacher in special education classrooms.

He has worked as a teacher, job counselor for at-risk youth, group leader for international youth programs, manager for a college access program, and school founder and leader. He most recently served as an Assistant Superintendent and Managing Director of New York.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Carleton College; completed his Master of Education in Special Education at Hunter College; and has received leadership training through the Emerging Leaders Program with Building Excellent Schools, Leader U at Democracy Prep, and the Cambiar Catalyst Fellowship.
