Regional Superintendent of New York –Emmanuel George

A Long Island native, Emmanuel George graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Livingstone College where he received the Center for Teaching Excellence full academic scholarship; this program was designed to specifically train black men for the rigors of public education. Emmanuel spent 11 years as an elementary, middle, and high school teacher in North Carolina, Long Island, and Harlem.

Emmanuel’s experience at Democracy Prep is extensive: in 2009, he was Democracy Prep’s first high school science teacher; in 2010, he founded Democracy Prep’s second middle school; in 2013, he was the first Middle School Assistant Superintendent; and from 2014-2018, he led the turnaround of Bronx Prep Middle and High.

Since then he has served in various roles including leading the revitalization of Endurance High, leading Democracy Prep’s expansion efforts, and serving as the Vice President of School Solutions.
